The good news is we don't have to stand idly by. If knowledge is power, then you can get juiced on the following 10 fitness, nutrition and medical trends that will give you the tools to take control of your health and your family's.

  5. Getting in touch with your genetic make-up [testing for genetic disease markers]
  6. Less clutter in the basement [less, more compact, multi-use fitness equipment]
  7. Stop cooking
    No, we're not recommending fast food. It is raw food that's all the rage.
    The raw food movement has long been a favorite of purists, with the occasional mention in culinary circles. But in April, Chicago haute-cuisine chef Charlie Trotter will release his newest cookbook, "RAW" (Ten Speed Press), and with it raw food is likely to become the way to eat for many mainstreamers.
    Proponents of the movement believe enzymes, which assist in the digestion of foods, are destroyed when foods are cooked. Obviously, nonvegetarians should still cook meat, poultry and chicken, but scientists at Cornell University and elsewhere say there may be benefits to keeping other ingredients as raw as possible.
